Black Cat Printing & Stationery

Design with Canva, Print with Black Cat

Create your own flyers, business cards, posters, menus and more in Canva, then send us a PDF for printing. Use the steps below to prepare your design and check the export settings before downloading.

Check your print requirements before designing. Confirm the finished size, folds, binding and any template requirements with us. A Canva template may not match the product you want printed.

1. Start at the Correct Size

  • Create your design at the agreed finished size.
  • Use clear original images and keep text readable at the size it will be printed.
  • For folders, folded brochures or bound documents, ask us about the required layout before you begin.

2. Check Margins & Bleed

In Canva, look under File → Settings for Show margins and Show print bleed. If they are not there, check File → Rulers and guides.

  • Extend backgrounds into the bleed area for edge-to-edge designs.
  • Keep text and logos away from trim edges, folds and binding.
  • Canva's bleed setting is fixed. Ask us whether it suits your job.

3. Choose PDF Print

Open Share → Download and select PDF Print as the file type. Select the pages needed for your print job.

  • Send the downloaded PDF, rather than a screenshot or preview.
  • Check front and back pages are included where required.
  • A PDF export does not fix blurry images or incorrect layout.

4. Confirm Export Options

  • Canva combines Crop marks and bleed in one checkbox. Use it when requested for your job; ask us if you are unsure.
  • If a Colour profile option is available, choose the setting agreed with us.
  • CMYK PDF export depends on your Canva plan. If it is unavailable, contact us before purchasing an upgrade solely for this job.

5. Check the Downloaded PDF

  • Open the PDF and check every page, including spelling, dates, prices and contact details.
  • Check images, page order and any backgrounds extending to the edge.
  • Test QR codes and confirm they lead to the correct destination.
  • Resolve watermarked or unlicensed elements before sending final artwork.

6. Send Your File to Black Cat

  • For a quote, attach your PDF and include the quantity, finished size, preferred paper, finishing and required date.
  • After quote approval or placing your job order, send the final PDF through our Upload Artwork page.
  • Include your quote or job reference and clearly identify different versions.
  • Keep your editable Canva design in case changes are needed.

Not Sure About Your File?

Contact us before finalising your design if you are unsure about sizing, bleed or export settings. Screen colours can differ from printed colours, so discuss proofing if colour is important.

File corrections or design changes may involve additional charges and affect production timing.
