Artwork & Information Guide for Signage
If you are intending to supply poster, banner or sign artwork please have a quick read below:
Sizing
What size do you want your Poster, Banner or Sign to be? Please provide the dimension – height and width in millimetres. There is no set sizes – we can produce whatever size you need, just give us your measurements.
Media
There are several media options for producing your signage.
- Posters can be printed on Plain Paper, Glossy, High Resolution and Satin finishes.
- Corflute Signs can be produced for both indoor and outdoor use. Let us know which you require so we can appropriately advise you of your options.
- Outdoor Banners and Signs are produced with UV stable inks so they last longer and don’t fade as quickly.
Finishing Options
Don't forget to think about how your going to hang or mount your Banner and Sign.
There are many options which include hemmed edges, eyelets, ropes, drilled corner holes. Having eyelets put in your Vinyl Banner makes hanging so much easier.
Supplying Files
When supplying files for a poster, banner or sign, be sure to supply written details of what specifications your file has been designed with. We need to know what the final product, poster, banner or sign size is to be and how much bleed you have allowed. We do not need cut marks, colour bars or file names etc on the file – we may ask you to take them off.
All printing is essentially in CMYK. In most instances we are happy to take RGB based files however most will be converted to CMYK and sent back to you for proofing. If you supply files with RGB content you may notice colour shift from screen to print. RGB has a wider colour gamut than CMYK. Colours most effected are; orange, vivid greens and blues. Designing in CMYK can eliminate colour shift issues. Charges will apply for conversions.
We prefer all client supplied artwork to be in pdf format but we will take almost any format depending on the type of product we are producing. All colours CMYK, 300 dpi minimum image resolution if possible, fonts embedded and bleed where it is necessary (be sure to ask how much bleed we may need – it differs between products).
File size vs printed size. Due to the large sizes we print, supplying a file with a small page size may mean the quality of your images could be less than you were expecting if we have to enlarge 100s of % ie a 200% enlargement reduces the resolution of images by 50%.
Images in the file need to be at least 150 dpi at final size to ensure sharp detail from 2 metres. If your product has small text the minimum resolution we suggest is 300 dpi.
Converting text to bitmap can cause fuzzy edges on small text. Try keeping your text as fonts, embedded in the file. Making sure your fonts are embedded is a must.
Hopefully the above information has given you answers and some help in designing your Poster, Banner or Sign.
